Argument Between Friends Turns Deadly

ST. CROIX, USVI – On July 29 at approximately 4:07 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call from a concerned citizen regarding shots being fired in Sion Farm.

Officers traveled to the area and found an unresponsive Black male with gunshot wounds. A male individual on the scene informed officers that he shot and killed the victim.

Based on the individual’s statement and additional information, police arrested Anselmo Cruse, age 33 of Castle Burke, charging him with Voluntary Manslaughter. His bail was set at $125,000, which he was unable to post. Subsequently, Cruse was placed in the Bureau of Corrections’ custody pending his Advice of Rights hearing.

Police Detectives and employees of the Medical Examiner’s Office in Estate Sion Farm, where 30-year-old Shamal Riviere succumbed to gunshot wounds. Anselmo Cruse, age 33, was arrested in this incident

The victim of the incident was identified by family members as 30-year-old Shamal Riviere of Sion Farm.
