Virgin Islands Crime Initiative (VICI) Team Makes Another Late-Night Arrest And Confiscation Of Illegal Firearm

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - On Saturday, October 27, 2019 at approximately 12:00 a.m.,Central Dispatch reported a stabbing in the area of Tap and Still located on Havensight Dock.

Members from the VICI team made an inspection in the area in an attempt to locate suspects and came upon a vehicle bearing the Tag “DEVO” attempting to leave the wrong way through a one-way in the area of the former Gourmet Gallery.

A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle “DEVO” and a Tan in color 9mm, Glock and a 30 (thirty) round magazine containing 30 rounds were recovered in the vehicle.

One of the passengers, 20-year-old Ta’riq Springette, who was in the vehicle, stated that the items belonged to him. He does not have a license to carry a firearm.

Springette was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.

He was placed under arrest, transported to Richard Callwood Command where he was booked and processed.

Unable to post bail of $25,000.00, he was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights Hearing.
